Eravikulam National Park (also known as Rajamala) is the most visited attraction in Munnar. It is the sanctuary of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr, a mountain goat found only in these hills.
Getting There from Vattavada
The park entrance is about 45km from Vattavada. It takes roughly 1.5 hours to drive there. We recommend leaving Vattavada by 7:00 AM to reach the park when it opens.
The Safari Experience
Private vehicles are not allowed inside the park. You have to park your car at the entrance and take a forest department bus. The bus ride itself is thrilling, taking you up steep hills with breathtaking views.
Seeing the Nilgiri Tahr
Once the bus drops you off, you can walk on a paved path for about 1km. The Tahrs are very friendly and often come right up to the path. It's a great opportunity for photography.
